a great new brew. very very smooth for this style, goes down easy, very rich flavor profile. Interesting packaging, lots of fun to read. sethdude (525), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Aug 7, 2005 Pours a cloudy cola color. Aroma is sweet and malty, bits of honey and hops. Flavor is great and malty. It’s like drinking rye toast. I’m betting this is the base for cherry-chocolate and Holidaze by the same brewer. Really nice malt flavor. csbosox (1010), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Sep 12, 2005 12oz bottle. Served at 50.6° in my NB worthy glass. Part of a mix-a-six. Looks like Lemp contracts out to two different brewers, this one is at least local. Reddish brown color with a light khaki head. There is sediment at the botom of the bottle and it looks like some at the bottom of my glass. The aroma is lighty roasted malt and spicy hops. Smells good. The taste is malty with coffee notes and a fair dose of spicy, citrusy? hops. The finish is chocolate quickly fading to a cleansing, mildly bitter, citrusesque flavor and a tingling mouthfeel. A nice beer. I like the additional hop flavor not found in the majority of brown ales. thegreenrooster (1601), St.louis, Missouri, USA Aug 24, 2005 Updated: Aug 15, 2008Pour is a clear brown with a nice sized white head. Aroma is not as strong as i would have liked but you get some malty notes there. Flavor is a nice sweet roasted malt flavor. Expensive at $8 a six but it is one of the tastier brown ales have ever had. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Aug 3, 2006 Decent brown ale, with some cookie dough maltiness, that literally has a moist body like a cookie would have, some roasted nuttiness mixed in with a light bit of bittering hops in the finish. Really tasty.
