Aroma of hops, malt, citrus, floral esters, and perfumy hints. Tastes hoppy, with a solid caramel-malt backbone and some toffee and floral notes at culmination. Smooth, dense, hoppy palate, which gets even hoppier and maltier as it warms. Very complex. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2004 Good dark red color, small off white head that faded slowly and left behind a nice lace.Very nice citrusy, hop aroma with a mild piney hint to go with the mild sweetness. The flavor is very nice, mild malt, but better then that was this nice smooth hoopppy flavor with plenty of grapefruit and a little pine like taste in there to round things out.It starts out a little malty and sweet at first, then it changes to a hoppy grapefruit flavor with still a mild bitter sweetness. The finish is smooth and hoppy. One hell of a brew that is worthy of having a higher rating then it does. Thanks go to Enniskillenkid for sending this fine brew my way, infact i wish he had sent more then just the one ;^) ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA

Good deep reddish-orange hue with a solid creamy beige-yellow head. Aroma of pine and floral hops, toasted malt and plenty of caramel sweetness. Good spiciness in the aroma as well, though I feel the flavor is this beer’s best aspect. Sweet butter-cream and rich caramel malt are balanced perfectly by plenty of flavorful, juicy hops. Not overdone and overly bitter, just enough to balance both aspects (sweet vs bitter). Creamy, lightly bubbly body, like a Double IPA. No alcohol or off-notes in my sample. Flavorful to the last drop, with no thinning of the body. Could be a solid base for a bigger double IPA or barleywine recipe. I agree with Slikwily, I wish I had more of this. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

It didn't really seem like traditional Amber because it wasn't watered down, and that is a very good thing. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
