maeib (4141), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Sep 3, 2004 Bottled. A black beer with a short lived off white head. The smell is sweet and there is some fruit in there (maybe blueberries?). The taste seems at first to be oversweet but it then develops a mellowness and a marshmallow taste and texture. An interesting drinkable beer. eaglefan538 (2141), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 5, 2006 Sampled in Ieper, this one poured with a rather stinky skunky (ick!) aroma alongside caramel malts. Knowing all too well that the smell can be deceiving, I still went forward with an open mind. Thankfully, the beer tasted much better than the smell. The caramel malts were detected in the flavor, but brown sugar, molasses, and chocolate were all there in a complex fashion for this very nice Belgian “stout.” The head was rather weak, but the lacing average. Not a bad beer, but nothing to exert excesses over if you’re not already in Belgium to get it. Jerre (1464), Waregem, Belgium Aug 2, 2007 Bottle, 33 cl. Dark brown to black color with light brown head. Aroma sweet and fruity. Medium body. Taste is sweet, raisins touch, oasted malts, and bitterness.
DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Oct 3, 2006 Bottle at t’Kantientje, Poperinge. Light, sweet Stout. Quite fizzy and fluffy. A little cola-like. Not too much flavour and no aftertaste. Some toffee and sugar. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Sep 3, 2007 Bottle. Hazy, dark brown color with a little head. Light aroma of fruit, roastedness and sweet malt. Flavour of sweet malt, little roastedness, but ends up sweet.
