Bottle at Chris o’s. Dark brown, malty, sugary sweet beer with a touch of grape skins. Average.

Burgundy reflections come across the dark brown body. Fair off-white head lasts atop it all. Earthy, caramelly and sugary nose hides a metallic component that becomes more obvious in mouth where the maltiness takes an interesting date-like twist. Rather expanding carbonation feels airy. Sweet and filling flavours with a definite liquorice reminding trait.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet and very malty combined with notes of caramel, as well as light notes of alcohol and spices. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, leading to a lightly bitter finish.

Bottle. Sweet, lightly caramelly start, slightly grainy mouthfeel. Some light yeastyness, and quite soft in the mouth. NOt a whole lot happening, but seems quite clean and pleasant.

Medium to good yellow head; deep amber-chestnut colour. Roasted, roasted chestnuts or oats, duckfat. Roasted taste, caramel, but not cloying; ending a bit nutty. Little sticky MF all the same, rather well-bodied. Not too sweet which is good.

Bottle, at London Shindig, August 2007. Dark brown. Some raisins and other dried fruity on a malty, candi sugar base. Nothing too exciting but pleasant enough. Mellow mouthfeel. Finishes a touch too sweet for my liking.
