decants a shimmering copper-red ale with a massive sticky meringue off white cap that will support a dime...good retenetion and great lacing of the glass...lots of protein in this one.
Aroma is almost perfect for style; biscuity malts, light caramel mustiness, herbal woody nobles..clean ...great smelling alt.
Lots of biscuit malt and some caramel malts balanced off perfectly with Spalter "bite" and tettnanger herbal bittering...some nutty-tobacco tones...dryish finish with great biscuity after taste in balance with noble bittering.
A great alt from what is becoming the best craft brewer of German styles in Canada.. bravo LTM this Alt is authentic, flavorful, satisfying and very drinkable. probstk (1037), Nepean, Ontario, Canada

App.: Clear, deep reddish-copper, fairly large tan head with light reddish hues.
Aroma: metallic defect hits first, with good piney, resinous hops behind it; slightly yeasty and funky, very stingy malts waaaayyyy in the back.
Palate: Medium body and medium-low carbonation.
Flav.: A good shot of resinous, piney hops, some meaty notes, dry, burnt malts, a bit eartyy and woody, certainly nutty; dry, with just a hint of acidity and almost moderate bitterness.
Alts always perplex me. The malts are there, but they seem grumpy and reluctant to show themselves. The complete lack of sweetness might be the reason. Hopping is nice in this one. Quaffable. Lubiere (4528), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is of burned caramel, light woodiness, and hops. In mouth, a classy malty thing, with very nutty notes, wood, and sustained burned bitterness. A medium bodied beer. Brown pour, decent sizzed white head. Really nice aroma - dusty, malt, some fruit - good. Good taste right on style - very dry malt, some good amount of subtle hops. Very drinkable. One of the best Alt’s I’ve had, I’d love to have this again. blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a clear deep orange-ruby with a large mostly-lasting off-white head. Aroma is biscuity along with some honey, toasted malt, wood and a good amount of hops. Flavour’s dry and malty along with fruit and lots of herbal hops (for the style). Light to medium bodied. Very sessionable, this is one of the best Altbiers I’ve ever had. Well done. Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle via trade with Viper666. Clear bright copper, large frothy off-white lasting head - thick lacing. Dry aroma, wheaty, light honey, grassy hops. Dry taste too - cereal malt, dry bitter herbal hops, mild alcohol. Light body, crisp, decent carbonation, dusty linger. Right on style, I’d say - very good. dmac (1458), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Poured a clear deep honey amber color with an average size creamy head. Aroma was rather boring with only a slightly sweet touch of chocolate and honey being found. Flavor was a slight bit more exciting with more of a bitter chocolate flavor and slight maltiness. The palate of this beer was exceptionally nice, velvety smooth just a touch of carbonation. This beer although not very exciting is highly sessionable. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada
