willblake (1923), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Apr 29, 2008 20070428 Bottle after TAPNY. Toasty, lots of burnt sugars, fruit-nut bread notes. A bit pretzely especially at finish. Mineral hints.
Beerlando (1237), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2008 2007 vintage. Pours a very dark cherrywood brown color with crimson highlights. A small, creamy, khaki colored head settles to a thin film, leaving spotty lacing in its wake. Aromas were rich and malty, showing tons of dark raisons, figs, and dates, with a good amount of cinnamon spice and sweet, caramel malts. Flavors were sweet, fruity, and slightly roasty. Chocolate joins the caramel, as does a touch of hazelnut. Raison and other dark fruits again play a huge role. Nearly full bodied and very smooth, this brew has a great mouthfeel save for the overly sticky finish. Awesome all around brew. I wish I could get more. KnutAlbert (2163), Oslo, Norway Mar 11, 2008 Bottle, thanks lagsga!
Beige head over dark brown beer. Burned suager, full malty sweetness, a warming alcohol edge balances the sweetness. larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Mar 8, 2008 Medium yellowish brown hread. Hazy deep amber barely translucent body with carbonation. Intense chocolatey roasty caramel aroma with oily, bready notes. Round and harmonic. Deep sweet roasty fruity caramel and chocolate taste with fruity bready notes. Harmonic. Some alcohol heat is noticeable, unsurprisingly. Very full-bodied. Maybe a bit on the sweet side, but saved by the alcohol from becoming cloying. Some bitterness is noticeable, but not much. Very nice! (0.341l bottle traded from glouglouburp. 2007 vintage.) rudolf (1547), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 29, 2007 Thanks to MDS for the bottle. Rich brown, thin tan head. Nose is lots of soy, chocolate, plum, tobacco, some peanut. Flavor is toffee, chocolate, tootsie roll, some alcohol. Tootsie roll/toffee finish.
