Thanks to Eben for this one. Black body, brown head. Chocolate and licorice aromas. Flavor is chocolaty, sweet, light dry roasted bitter, has a lactic sourness.

Many thanks to Mike for opening this! Poured deep brown with a short cap of tight beige head. The aroma was deep with dry-roasted dark chocolates upfront.. coffee grounds and dark fruit backed it up, leaving a rich, dark, and sexy impression. The flavor had drier dark chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit at the core.. more cocoa-like sugars on the back with dry coffee bitterness riding out the finish.. enjoyable, but a bit harsh at the finish. Heavier-bodied and drier on the palate with some rough, raw alcohol on the back.. nice roast to it. Very good beer.

(750ml bottle) Courtesy of Goldorak. Pours a thin, quick dissipating head atop an opaque deep brown body. Nose of a triple bock - so thick with malt, strong soy with a good cherry elixir in the finish. Great flavour off the top. Mixing of burnt chocolate syrup, coffee grounds and roasted marshmallow. Such a refreshing change from my current West Coast hop kick. Thanks Martin!

(Rating #1722)

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Deep, oily, chocolatey black. Slightly tarry aroma with vanilla, brown sugar and creme brulee like toasty sweetness. Cinnamon, chocolate, espresso, and a mite of lactic sugars. Dusty sweetness and distant mineral acridity in the flavor; clean bitterness. Cookie dough, deep fruitiness somewhat buried; wine-like characters seem spritzy and sharp. Pears. Syrupy, hot amaretto richness. Both warm and cool with a firmly carbonated texture and persistent alcohol touch; full bodied and dense; peppermint and gritty chocolatey sweetness before a drawn out, fragrant perfume finish. Refined to a degree. Thanks Dany!

(750ml bottle, thanks stine) Small beige head that completely disappears, atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate syrup, some roast, smoke. Taste is medium sweet, smoke, chocolate, some roast, light soy, alcohol. Medium-full body, sticky, low carbonation.

Courtesy of Stine. Dark brown/black with a medium sized tan head. Sweet chocolate nose with raisins, toffee, some alcohol and roast. The flavor is lightly sweet, very lightly bitter with lots of chocolate, raisins, alcohol, molasses and prunes. Full body is round with moderate carbonation.

750mL bottle, courtesy of Stine. Thanks, Eben! Pours a dark, chocolate-brown color; light-tan head with mixed-bubbled lacing. Solid amounts of milk chocolate, nougat, and caramel in the aroma; creamy, chocolate-forward nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy chocolate, roasted malts, nougat and caramel upfront; some citrus acidity coming through, with a touch of warming alcohol (not much, but present); lots of chewiness and reasonably well-attenuated maltiness; solid stuff. Medium finish, showing lots of chocolate, nougat, and caramel. Good balance of sweet malts and a dry periphery.
