Very meaty, bit of smoke in the nose. Really a great baltic porter, roasty with some dark fruit and a salty finish.

0.75 l bottle at PBF. Reddish black color. Sweet, nutty and coffeish aroma. The flavor is also sweet and coffeish with licorice, nuts and caramel. A bit too fizzy palate.

Bottled at PBF (as Porter Baltique). pale black, rich airy head. Licorice aroma. Sweet and ashy lots of licorice and lemon. Roasty and doughy, some dough and dreid plums. Long salty bitterness. Tasty stuff!

Bottled (as Porter Baltique Automne 2008, 10%). Very dark brown colour with small brown head. Aroma is coffee, malts and some roasted notes. Flavour is burnt sugar, alcohol, coffee, fudge, syrup and some caramel malts. Not much baltic porter in this one. Aftertaste is fudge, roasted malts and alcohol.

Bottled as "Porter Baltique" (PBF, vintage 2008). Dark brown color, small brown head, Strong cocoa-chocolate-coffee aroma. Coffeish, roasted malty, caramelly and milky flavor. Similar sweet flavor than in their doppelbock, which I had in the same session. Not really baltic porter.

(Bottled, 0.75l) Very dark brown with a smallish, beige head. Aroma has roasted maltiness, some ash, hints of vegetables and chocolate. Milky-sour flavor with ashes and roasted coffee. Medium body, lowish carbonation. Might get better points if it wasn’t 1 AM and if I didn’t have about 25 beers before this.

8,99$ up to 10,99$ in Québec, for 750 ml bottle. Very good strong porter, not too sweet although very malty, obvious hop dryness, notes of dried fruit, wood and others, with a lasting bitter coffee aftertaste. The alchool is surprisingly hidden and it is all well balanced. ADDED: The new 2009 batch seems even better and more complex than the brews I had in the past years although I have never been disppointed with it. This might be the best brew from this great brewer, with its rich and full bodied texture, its complexity in the fruity, slighlty sweet chocolate, woody, even a little smokey taste and its obvious production qualities. Really good beer.

Big bottle "Fall 2008". Big pop! 80% foam in the glass looks like a block of brown styrofoam. Head doesn’t sink so much as it becomes porous. Black liquid. Big dark chocolate aroma. A strong sweetness in the first few sips. Big bitter chocolate. Alcohol blends right in. Hints of licorice. Lots of chocolate turns to more of a cocoa note in the finish.
