Commercial Description:
This Doppelbock, or "Double Bock", is a dark, extra full bodied lager after the best Bavarian tradition. Such beer was created by monks for the tough fasting period of Lent. They called it "liquid bread". Look for flavor notes of chocolate, candied fruit and roasted malt.

211109 Tasting with Ungdomsklubben. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Sweet with lots of chocolate aromas. Hints of alcohol. Tiny hints of toasted malts towards the end. Some bread. Full boided with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Good.

A 750ml bottle poured into a Stem Glass at 45° Color is a deep rich ruby with good carbonation and a lasting tan head that becomes tighter as you drink it. Aroma is sweet with malt giving a dried pear and molasses scent. It starts with an easy full body that has a slick mouth feel going down soft. Finish comes in sweet with apple, cheery, toffee and yeast then a light bitterness with coffee and a hint of smoke. After taste is dry with a light bitter that gives way to a sweet alcohol feel. Wow this is a great brew, very tasty with bold Belgian yeast and fruit flavors.

Big bottle, shared with Parksy. Pours a beautiful deep mahogany with a long-lived copiously bubbled creamy beige cap. Very toasty aroma, dark caramel, and hints of something vegetal and spicy (aniseed? caraway?). As it breathes, that beguiling spicy/veggie thing faded from my radar. Rich, sweet malty flavours with fruity undertones and roasty bitterness. Chewy mouthfeel, warming finish. A high-ABV doppelbock, but one that immensely satisfies.

75 cl bottle. Quite different from the other ones. Quite dark with a white head. Lot’s of roasted coffee aromas, coffee and smoke. Taste is smokey and leathery quite nice, very different from the other dopplebocks.
