9/17/2009: Les Trois Mousquetaires Doppelbock... Aroma: Coffee with some fruity dark fruit. Appearance: Extremely deep ruby brown color; large foamy beige head. Flavor: Coffee, nutty, hints of chocolate; richly caramelized malts. Palate: Medium to medium-full; fairly smooth. Overall: Pretty solid; reminds me a bit of the New Glarus Unplugged Old English Porter without the sour aspect. This stuff could totally get you lit quickly if you aren’t careful since there is just enough residual sweetness in the malt component to cover the alcohol and make you want more...

Poured clear brown color with a huge frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Good roasted chocolate malt and dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth thick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet toasted malt flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Very good doppelbock. BMan1113VR (2883), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
