Very sweet, chocolaty, fruity, some spices, not much bitter brew. Rich and thick, heavy but much too easily drinkable; I thought I’d save some for the next day. Another great strong beer from this brewery I really appreciate. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Deep mahogany brown body sitting underneath a creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate, slight alcohol and a floral sweetness. Dark fruit flavors with lots of raisin and plum, chocolate, with a good amount of sweetness. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Dark brown in colour with a thin beige coloured head, very light lacing. The aroma is sweet, some molasses, toasty, lots of malt, chocolate biscuits. The flavour is very toasty and roasty, high sweetness, chocolate and some alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, highly sweet with a bit of alcohol warmth.
A rich, sweet and incredibly roasty doppelbock, good but terribly straight forward.

Decants a hazed chestnut-orange color with ruby highlights. Massive puffy cap...fair retention, laces well.
Aroma is dominated with bready-cookie dough malts, cocoa, figs, herbal woodyness, some mustiness....wonderful complexity.
The front is thick and rich with toasty-roasted malts some sweetness ensues like toffee, balance is achieved with a pervading noble hop herbal bite,....center is complex with coffee-dark fruits, cocoa, nuts, pipe tobacco, earthiness....finish is long and rich, like liquid bundt cake.
Excellent rendition of the style...really a rich satisfying drink without being too sweet . LadySusan (488), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada

pours a clear dark garnet brown color capped by a large tan head.
super malty aroma is very rich... chocolate, toasted salted cashews, mild vanilla pod, wood and grassiness.
the palate is definitely straight up sweet though somehow not disgustingly... lots of malt, chocolate, toasted brown sugar candied nuts, buttery caramel, wood and faint notes of coffee. saltiness/umame and warming spiciness on the finish. rich caramel-y aftertaste. alcohol vapors pour out of me as the brew warms and adds another layer of depth and spice. it is quite welcome as it helps to break up some of the stickiness. medium body with a soft creamy mouth feel and thick richness from sugars.
