Rich and complex with flavors; cocoa, roast, berries, smoke, earthyness dried fruit, tobacco, hrbacious hopping and a long wet complex finish. Like a lighter version of a dark barley wine,
Wonderful winter warmer. JulienHuxley (234), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 15, 2009 Dark ruby pour with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet malts, sherry, alcohol and an odd musty almond. The typical banana esters are nowhere to be found this seems more like a Belgian strong ale with hints of a weizenbock. Weird beer, it’s not bad it enjoyable, but to me it seems way off the style lines. TheJester (717), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 1, 2009 750 mL bottle. Opaque ruby-brown with a large, sticky, short-lived beige head. Large aroma of dried dark fruit (raisins, dates, prunes), dark fruit, wheat, and caramel. Flavour is huge, with the dark fruit dominating, along with licorice, alcohol, a little spice, and molasses. Solid body. A weaker cousin to Aventinus Eisbock.
