Bottle from purchased in Montreal. Split with DeputyAndy and JRedmond. 2009 11% version. Nose is brown sugar and walnut. Mouth is rather complex for your typical Weizenbock.. Dark fruits -cherry, sugar plums, grape and complemented with some warming alcohol. Strong, very good and underrated 4.15

Bottle. Infected bottle. Remnants of what was once a good beer, but overall a drain pour.

2009 version, 750 ml bottle. Pours brown almost orange, nice head very good looking. A lot of taste but not very much what I like. Lots of alcohol taste. Maybe the timing for that beer was not right but I did not enjoy it a lot. Not even close to the Aventinus which is a top 10 beer for me.

2009 version shared at the KW tasting, courtesy of BeerGeek. Brown pour, nice white head. Yeasty aroma, alcohol as well - nice. Good taste - sharp weizen bock taste, lots of alcohol, lots of malt. Very good - aventinus like with more carbonation and less complexity.

750 ml bottle, 2009 edition. shared at the KW group tasting at tupalev’s. pours ruby with a nice tan head. aroma are sweet yeasty and malty. dark fruit, some chocolate and even hops in the nose. the flavour was quite complex with typical weizen bock flavour playing a background role to the more aggressive roasted malt profile and a huge dose of hops. very interesting interpretaton of the style. it didnt drink like an 11% brew but if it is i wouldnt have a problem putting back all 750ml. thanks for the share KW group!

Some think the Québécois are solid beer drinkers. I think that too... But it does not change the fact that the choice is often a problem here. We can’t get american beers except a few uninteresting ones. Do you want an Old Milwaukee? So this beer is the only Weizenbock I ever had with the Aventinus. Even if high in ABV, the alchool is not that noticeable. Very fruity and tongue-tingling spices are very obvious, and so is the presence of leafy hops. Quite complex and more warming than refreshing or easy to drink. All in all, a pretty enjoyable Extreme brew.

750ml bottle shared at Tupalev’s, big thanks to the provider. Pours out a hazy greyish brown. Aroma is not at all what I was expecting, very hoppy, sharp, herbal, sweet and sort of like an Imperial Stout? Weird. Flavour matches up well with toffee, booze, astringency and just a mild hint of wheat. Decent fuller feeling body to it. I was expecting something at least remotely similar to Aventinus, but this could not be any more different. Still seems almost vaguely Imperial Stout like to me for some reason. Quite an interesting one although I have to say I expected more. I’m glad to have been able to try it though, as well as another example of an Weizen Bock.
