2007 vintage. Pours a very dark cherrywood brown color with crimson highlights. A small, creamy, khaki colored head settles to a thin film, leaving spotty lacing in its wake. Aromas were rich and malty, showing tons of dark raisons, figs, and dates, with a good amount of cinnamon spice and sweet, caramel malts. Flavors were sweet, fruity, and slightly roasty. Chocolate joins the caramel, as does a touch of hazelnut. Raison and other dark fruits again play a huge role. Nearly full bodied and very smooth, this brew has a great mouthfeel save for the overly sticky finish. Awesome all around brew. I wish I could get more.

Bottle, thanks lagsga! Beige head over dark brown beer. Burned suager, full malty sweetness, a warming alcohol edge balances the sweetness.

Medium yellowish brown hread. Hazy deep amber barely translucent body with carbonation. Intense chocolatey roasty caramel aroma with oily, bready notes. Round and harmonic. Deep sweet roasty fruity caramel and chocolate taste with fruity bready notes. Harmonic. Some alcohol heat is noticeable, unsurprisingly. Very full-bodied. Maybe a bit on the sweet side, but saved by the alcohol from becoming cloying. Some bitterness is noticeable, but not much. Very nice! (0.341l bottle traded from glouglouburp. 2007 vintage.)

Thanks to MDS for the bottle. Rich brown, thin tan head. Nose is lots of soy, chocolate, plum, tobacco, some peanut. Flavor is toffee, chocolate, tootsie roll, some alcohol. Tootsie roll/toffee finish.

341ml brown bottle. 2007 vintage, from Goldorak. Pours dark red-brown colour with a large smooth, thick tan head. Some patchy lacing. The beer is slightly hazy and it looks slightly viscous. Aroma has a trace of yeast and cloves underneath some sweet toffeeish malt. Flavour is a bit sweet with rich caramel malt, mild chocolate, raisins, banana, light citrus (lemon), and some dryish wheat notes. Some alcoholic presence, but there’s enough other flavours going on that it doesn’t overpower. Aftertaste is clovey with lingering wheat. Full bodied, light tingly carbonation. Drank slightly out of season but it held up quite well. Definately the best beer I’ve had from this brewer so far.

Pours a murky brown color with reddish highlights and a medium, bubbly, beige head. Nice aroma of bubble-gum, mild roasted malt, candy and maybe honey. The flavor is mainly focused on the candy and honey sweetness, there’s also a bubble-gummy yeast and a mild roasted malt that provides some balance to the sweetness, preventing the beer from being too sweet. The light to medium body has a smoothness provided by the wheat, the texture is slightly sticky and liquorous, the carbonation is moderate. Very well-done, a solid weizen bock.

2007 edition, 12oz bottle from La Trappe A Fromage in Gatineau. Pours very dark. Aroma is smoky but relatively faint, and completely misleading. First taste makes my head shake. Lots of flavour with cloying sweetness. The alcohol is evident... and welcomed, at the moment! I’m not getting much ’weizen’ out of this weizenbock, but it’s still a enjoyable drink.

Thanks to maniac for bringing a bottle of this back for me to try. Very deep brown, creamy head fades slow, little bubbles surprisingly persistent here. Aroma is deep caramel, a hint of clove, a spice I can’t quite put my finger on, a bit of roasty wort, and faint alcohol at the end. Flavor is a malty dose of caramle, a touch of which has been barely burnt, followed by some herbal spiciness and some cognac alcohol in the finish. There may be some plum in there as well. Decent, definitely had some complexities going on.
