The caramel malts dominate the flavor profile, and there is an odd dryness to this beer as well. Drinkable enough, but lacking in complexity. Thanks to Lubiere for the sample. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA

Dark amber-to-bronze, tiny lasting fizzy head...brown sugar and sweet herbs in the nose...body is surprisingly bitter, somewhat sulforous and redolent of burnt & smoked malts, quite dry throughout and bitter/sour to finish. There’s a brackish, saltwater quality in here that somehow works because of the fairly strong malt underlying, but it’s an oddity that I won’t drink often.. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

Thick foamy head, floral, hoppy pale malt aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate, dry pale malt, hazelnut, hop bitterness with a dryness finish SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 27, 2005 bottle - thanks to eyedrinkale for the trade. Pours dark reddish brown with a nice large beige head that left interesting lacing as it diminished. Aroma is malty and spicey, with hints of cinnamon and clove. Flavor is darkish, a bit on the roasty side along with caramelly malts, the aforementioned spice and a pleasant hoppy astringent bite in the finish. Light to medium body and plentiful carbonation. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Bottle thanks to Eyedrinkale. Mahogany
color with a small off white head. Somewhat metallic, malty aroma. Flavor of malt, some caramel and a bitter hop finish. Odd taste, not totally unpleasant,
but odd. Eructoblaster (1505), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 25, 2005 Updated: Mar 20, 2005Dark copper body topped with average off-white foamy head. Aroma is dominated by breadiness but also has some gentle herbal notes. Nicely bitter and well-balanced malty/hoppy taste with some sweet hints. Ends with a good bitter finish. This is a good beer, but it is rather unidimensional. PrimeMinister (138), Quebec, Canada

The color was a beautiful amber with touches of red. The beer has interesting flavors ranging from caramel to sweet malt. The aftertaste was warm and very comfortable. A fine ale.
