Pours a cloudy yellow to dark gold body under a one finger foamy white head. The nose is fairly smoky with a campfire quality to it, not very heavy. Notes of wheat, hay, belgian yeast, lighter bubble gum and caramel. The flavor is a bit of a letdown though, not near as much smokiness as I was expecting from the nose. More Weizen than a Smoked really. Still a servicable enough Weizen though, some fruity wheat, sweet caramel maltiness, bubble gum, and yeast. Mouthfeel is fairly soft and billowy with soft carbonation. A little thicker than most Weizens. Overall, a pretty decent beer, but it falls short of being a good Smoked beer. rodenbach99 (687), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2007 A hazy dark amber weizen with a thick collapsing white head. A lightly smokey aroma, with fusel alcohol. In mouth, a sweetish malt with smoked bacon, light bananas, andlight sour points. A very classy beer. Bought and tasted Oct. 8, 2007. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2007 Bottle. Pours an orange hazy body with a medium white creamy head. The aroma is lightly tart with a nice dose of roastiness...and it’s not completely dominating in hamminess. There’s some nice fruit character too.
Tastes pretty solid - nice biscuity caramel backing, light smoke (though never overpowering), and a little bit of fruit tartness. A nice twist on the style? I really enjoyed this! HogTownHarry (4006), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Bottle (750ml - corked & caged). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, mds and tupalev - mds’ bottle. Hazy pale amber pour, small creamy off-white head. Fairly sweet grainy aroma, with overtones of smoky peat, earthy spice, and lemon juice. Taste follows the aroma right on, more sourness, plenty of bandaids - as tupalev says, there is perhaps too much going on for such a light-bodied beer. Light, yet somehow a bit thick, body, with a fast finish and peaty, tangy taste notes lingering after, wondering where the party went. I liked it quite a bit, though. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

The pour produces a clouded honey colored beer with another massive sticky cap that laces the glass. Aroma of smoked biscuit malts, spices and fruits, some woodyness and musty tones. Profile: Smoke is present but does not dominate there is ample earthy grains, spoiled fruits and leafy-woody hops in almost perfect balance to make this a wonderful 3 dimensional experience...lightly drying finish with a light smokey-biscuit aftertaste. Creamy mouth feel, ample body and a perfect balance of smoke-malt-hops. I’ll take this over Schlenkerla any day for drinkability and balance. Another German style carried off authentically but well by this great Quebec brewer. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Rather muddy yellowy brown covered by a quickly fading beige head. Gently smoky, well integrated aroma with soft wooden notes that never dominate the obvious wheat beer base. This is not your bacon type of smokiness, just soft AND omnipresent leafy, wooden notes that never rush at the strong wheat cracker feel. Apparently a high proportion of wheat in there because the quenching character is direct. Perhaps a bit thinner than expected in mouth, the carbonation is foamy and wheat-beer like. Underlying fruity undertones include banana, orange tea and pear. Well done... again! tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Bottle shared with Blankboy, Jerc, and Mabel, courtesy of Jerc and Mabel. Dark yellow, small white head. Good smoke and lemon in aroma. Taste follows - tons of smoke and a nice lemon citrus aspect that makes this complex yet refreshing and interesting - neat. A little spicy as well. Body is a little too thin for all of these flavours, otherwise good stuff.
