Bottle (750ml) shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of jerc & mabel. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with an average size diminishing creamy white head. Mild but nice aroma of smoke, wheat, caramel malt, yeast and spices. Flavour has very mild smoke, wheat, caramel malt, light hops, some fruit and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good version, I liked it.

Bottle. Hazy golden body with a small white head that fades. Very mostly smokey in the aroma. Moderately sweet flavour, only vaguely smokey. Light fruity wheat beer esters are fairly modest. Average palate. I don’t know if this suffered from the more assertive beers that preceded it, but I never thought I would be complaining that a smoked beer was too bland.

The pour reveals a cloudy, peachy golden color with a thick, creamy white head. At first sniff, smoke ham smacks me in the face, I like that, then some weizen characteristics get noticed, wheat and bubble-gum. The flavor has a luscious wheat cornucopia with smoked ham and bubble-gum, it’s very good, very round. The body is medium to full with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. An impressive achievement, this brewery keeps on releasing good beer after good beer, keep it going guys!

Thanks to Glouglouburp. The beer pours with a beautifully thick head, that just has nowhere to go, sticky-ichy lacing. The color has almost no clarity with a dark, dark golden color, almost orange territory. Still some visible carbonation. Looks great!!!!!! Aroma is light clove, light orange, minimal smoke - almost mineral like actually and definitely a heavy wheat beer. Taste has barely any smoke but full of wheat flavors like the aroma but not overwhelming. Very hefty for a wheat beer, in body. Has a lowered carbonation and the body is softly on the cheeks. Finishes with what can be considered the most un-smokiest smoke and no bitterness. Basically, one would have to starve oneself for a week to get any smoke flavor but still a very nice beer. 750ml, Brooklyn/Schneider Hopfen-Weisse Weizen glass.

Very cloudy dirty orange body topped by a small white head. Mellow smoke on the nose. Lots of hay. Pleasant light fruity flavours of citrus, banana, orange and white grapes. Pillowy body and fluffy mouthfeel. The mellow smoke flavour has a nice fruity dessert flambée feel to it. Smooth and mellow session Smoked that gets the job done. In some parts of germany this would be just another solid Smoked but over here in quebec it really fills a hole it the beer scene. Another weapon for my ongoing war against sobriety.

Bottle - 750ml. Nice chestnut-orange body with average carbonation and a decent white foamy head. Enjoyable malty-hoppy aroma with yeasty, fruity and smokey notes. Taste is well balanced but is a slightly less complex than the aroma as smokiness and fruitiness are less present. It ends with a good bittersweet finish. The style (Rauchweizen) is original and the product is well done. I like it.

My Bottom Line:
This harmonious Rauchweizen delivers its humble wooden smokiness and chewy cereal sweetness onto a parsimonious blend of tropical fruit esters. Crafty, intelligent, and quenching, this is a session beer like few others.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy yellow amber.
-The weizen yeast offers some banana/plantane esters, but the overall effect is more of a fruit salad than your typical estery profile for the style.
-The body is marvelously plump.
-The finish is a slow fade out of the nose and flavor profile.
-The smokiness won’t bowl you over, as it is subtly inserted into the beer’s many other flavors, leaving some dry trails in the finish.

Bottle.
