| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2008 In short: A light chocolaty black lager low on the fruity flavours.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed relatively fresh some 4 months after its release.
The look: Black body topped by a small beige head
In long: Burnt smooth dark malts, chocolate, some floury dryness sensation, very smooth body, fruity notes unfortunately kept to a minimum except for maybe a little blackberries and raisins touch. A light oxidation/acidic touch in the finish. Not quite what I’m used to from Schwarzbiers. The first bottle I had of that beer was infected beyond belief, totally undrinkable. But given the good track record of the brewery I did what I do what most guys would do with an unfaithful hot Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, I gave it a another chance. (Rating #2042) MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 22, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Overripe fruity notes swim within the prevalent roastiness and chocolate of this healthy and lightly bitter Schwarzbier.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A dense sheet of foam recedes to a ring onto the brown-tinged blackness.
-The important fruitiness might be a sign of its (d)evolution as none of the other raters have talked about this before. This might become lightly tart in a couple of months or so.
-This was quite low on the hops, apart from the finish which was a blend of roasted malt and alpha bitterness.
-The big bubbles are quite soft.
-The fruity profile is redolent of berries and cranberries.
-I prefer their Noire in the same style family.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 The pour reveals a black color with brown highlights and a medium light brown head. Aroma of coacoa, molasses and burned malt. Solid flavor of coacoa, molasses, burnt malt and some bitterness in the end. The body is light to medium with a creamy, powdery texture and moderate carbonation. This is a very pleasant interpretation of the style. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
