Pours dark brown with red hues and an average size diminishing creamy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of smoke. Nice flavour of roasted malt along with a hint of smoke, coffee and some nuts. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good beer. HogTownHarry (4006), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Bottle (341ml). Shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Deep deep ruby pour, average frothy tan head. Initially vegetal aroma, roasty, herbal, a little sour. The taste is fine - light roast, a bit of coffee, dryly herbal. Light body, slick, moderate carbonation, medium length bitter finish. Didn’t like the aroma too much, but pretty decent in the final analysis. garthicus (1289), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2009 On tap at Saint Bock. Pours a ruby highlighted brown to black with a medium brown head. Roasted malt on the nose. Flavors of roast, coffee, and bakers chocolate. Ends with a light roasty bitterness. Had no idea this was a smoked until entering the rating… never even picked up a hint of smoked. Missed the mark on this one. bedainedebiere (286), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2009 Three finger head in a Guiness glass. Bought it thinking it was a stout, now I see Schwarzbier... OK, definitely not a stout or porter. Some smoked malt is obvious in the aroma and taste, it has common points with their great Rauchbier, with notes of fruits and pepper and a moderate bitterness and a pretty long finish. Decent brew but I have no references to plainly judge this one... presario (2983), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
