There are also some Golding hops hints, which is unusual for a Märzen. Its hoppy/roasty/woody taste is definitely the one of an English Bitter. It ends with a nice bitter finish. Despite its lack of conformity to the Märzen style, I really like it. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Soy, balsamic vinegar, cedar, sawdust in the challenging aroma. Deep amber-brown with generous tan head that lasts. Strong, sharp hops are unpleasant. Quite bitter and not enough malt. Acetic. Strong, prickling carbonation and fairly thin body. Bottle. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 20, 2004 (Bottle) Pours a medium almond head with a copper body. The aroma is very biscuit and malty. Flavours of sweet roasted malt, nuts, and mild hops. My idea of an average marzen. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2004 Copper hue, light haze, big off-white head leaves an impression on the glass. Malty aroma reminiscent of overbaked cookies, green foam you see on the rocks in a forest and just foresty altogether (notes of cedar, earthy hops). Good mouthfeel, rather crisp carbonation, quaffable light-medium body. Enough hops to balance the sweet nutty malt. Something made me say rubber in the aftertaste’s astringency and after that "insight", I found light notes of it in the aroma also. It’s more of an effect of their unclean yeast, but still takes away from the already subdued enjoyment. Poor. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Spicey malt flavour, almond and plenty of hops, extra nice woodiness. Medium bodied, well balanced, quite dry. Really good. Radek Kliber (4000), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
