Bottle. Pours a copper-red body with a soapy white head. The aroma has some pleasant smoke and toast with a strong dose of nuts and caramel. The flavour is bready with caramel and cookie flavours. Very tasty yet the body is quite light. Well balanced and very drinkable.

2008-02-01. Bottle. 2007 Vintage. Orange amber body with modest white head. Lightly earthy smoky hints over toasty malt aroma. (6+) Flavour has similar lightly smoky earthy character distracts from the malty foundation. Average smooth palate. Very well made but not for me. My score seems low but I don’t know that I would raise any of the individual numbers so there it stays.

Can shared with jerc, mabel, blankboy & mds - courtesy of blankboy. Ruby-amber with a good sized white head that leaves lots of lace. Very nice aroma with sweet caramel malt, an earthy backnote, and some spicy/herbal hops. Full bodied. Flavour is just as good as the aroma - sweet, toffeeish malt off the top, a slightly smoky nuttiness in the middle, and a solid helping of hops to bring it together in the finish. As with the ’06, this is a fantastic example of the style.

(Rating #1412)

On tap at Oktoberfest in Mascouche. The color is amber with a beige head. The taste is bitter and malty with also a taste of cereal. It is quite similar to their Oktoberfest of 2006.

Bottle: Poured a clear reddish amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention but no lacing. Aroma of medium sweet malt with some dry grain also noticeable. Taste is mostly dominated by some dry grainy malt. I thought it lacked some sweetness and a creamy texture with carbonation being a bit low. Definitely not the best thing I have tried from them lately.

Decent sized frothy off white head of fine bubbles. Minimal carbonation. Sweet malts and roasted grains in the aroma with a bit of nuts and some sort of berry in the background. Color is a beautiful crimson brown. The beer just glows when you hold it up to the light. Light roasty flavor with some biscuity malts, bit of dryness and bitterness and maybe a hint of tart cranberry. There is something in the background which I just cant place. Finishes dry and roasty with a hint of tartness. I expected this to be a pretty poor brew but am plesantly surprised. If I would have known that it was this good I would have saved it for a tasting. Thanks to etowneraser for this one.
