pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2009 750 ml Bottle:
Clouded chestnut brown with ruby highlights. Puffy beige cap that lasts and laces
Rich and complex with flavors; cocoa, roast, berries, smoke, earthyness dried fruit, tobacco, hrbacious hopping and a long wet complex finish. Like a lighter version of a dark barley wine,
Wonderful winter warmer. JulienHuxley (166), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada Sep 24, 2009 Bottle, brown pour with red coming through. Aroma is choke cherries, wood, and alcohol. Taste is kind of acid, citrusy up front (grapefruit) with a slow change towards roasted malts and bitterness, barn. Long mouthfeel. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2009 Dark ruby pour with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet malts, sherry, alcohol and an odd musty almond. The typical banana esters are nowhere to be found this seems more like a Belgian strong ale with hints of a weizenbock. Weird beer, it’s not bad it enjoyable, but to me it seems way off the style lines. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2009 750 mL bottle. Opaque ruby-brown with a large, sticky, short-lived beige head. Large aroma of dried dark fruit (raisins, dates, prunes), dark fruit, wheat, and caramel. Flavour is huge, with the dark fruit dominating, along with licorice, alcohol, a little spice, and molasses. Solid body. A weaker cousin to Aventinus Eisbock. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Aug 15, 2009 0.75 l bottle at PBF. Dark reddish brown color. Plummy, vinous, peppery and perfumed aroma with notes of charcoal and red wine. Plummy, peppery and vinous flavir with hint coffee and charcoal roast. Full bodied oily palate. Warming yet soft. Nice vinous plum character. Tangara (2), Quebec, Canada does not count Aug 6, 2009 Agréable au goût lorsque prise lentement.
http://tangara.forumactif.net/parfum-de-biere-f10/ Lanchester (18), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 5, 2009 I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a dark amber color with a nice beige-tinted head. Rich aroma flies right out of the bottle after being uncorked; notes of caramel, nuts, molasses and perhaps a hint of woodiness. Flavor is very well balanced, smooth on the tongue...really nutty with roasted malts. Finishes a little dry with plenty of aromatic quality after each sip. Alcohol is disguised very well. Not too familiar with the style but found this beer to be quite a pleasant experience. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 8, 2009 Bottled at PBF. Cloudy brownish red, rich but brief head. Caramelly nose withsome red berries behind. Sweet with a tart berryish yeast component. Intense brandy-like alcohol with burnt caramelly malt behind. Salty finish.
