Commercial Description:
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

750, slightly different label - I love me some smoked beer, so when I saw "bamburg style smoked beer" on the label, I got really excited - pours a deep, dark brown, with a well-retained lace - so far so good - nice beechwood smoke in the aroma, with some toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, some vegetal qualities - okay, not as good as I wanted the nose to be, but there is still hope - full carbonation in the mouth - flavor of burnt malts, sour cherries, leafy/tobacco character, crappy chocolate, smoke, ashy flavor, day-old coffee - ah-ha, here is where it is ruined.

750 in Schlenkerla glass. Slightly different label than shown. Dark brown with lasting dense head and lace. Smoky grassy caramel aroma. Rich smoky grassy caramel with lingering toasty caramel. Soft creamy mouthfeel and fine carbo. If I brewed a beer, I would hope it to be like this. Awesome. Just shy of Schlenkerla itself.

Dark brown, smoked meat aroma. Porter-like malty flavor. Fairly light but very good. I like it.

Thanks to Glouglouburp for this one! Pours a deep dark brown with medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma strong of smoked malt, smoke, slight chocolate, and not a lot else. Flavor is as advertised and makes for a nice enjoyable brew. It’s smoked, it’s beer, and it’s good.

750mL shared by Mat at our KW group tasting. Thanks Mat! Pours a deep dark hazy brown with a small white head. The aroma is really quite simple, smoked malts to the max, BBQ, not much else actually. The flavour has your same basic smoked malt aspects, roastyness, very tasty. Kind of light on the palate with no sign of booze and it’s super drinkable. I think I drank my glass in about 15 seconds and I had a decent sized sample. Another solid German styled beer from this Quebecois brewery, and I’m very appreciative of their efforts, kudos (I wish I could get their stuff ALL the time). Nothing too bold or complex, just nicely done Rauchbier.

750 ml bottle shared at a KW group tasting. pours black with a small tan head. aroma of roasted malt. coffee, and chocolate mostly, with a touch of smoke. the flavour is similar. the smoke doesnt play much of a role in this one. more like a porter then anyting else.

Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Good aroma of smoke and bacon, flavor is smokey/salty/bacon. The palate is kind of watery so the feel isn’t all that great for something with such a nose. I don’t know this style very well but this is good.

750, corked and baled. thanks, dany! pours nearly black with a dense, creamy tan head, lots of bubbles. big coffee and beef jerky nose. creamy medium body with beautiful light carb. some lightly tart acidity, lots of coffee, roast, and bacon on the mid. long tangy bacon finish.
