Commercial Description:
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

Bottle. Body-nearly opaque with a dense eighth inch head. Nose-stinks, rotten melons, smoked malts. Taste-some smoke, tastes like you took cantaloupe aqua fresca, strained it into a glass rubbed your finger in a toilet and an industrial bakery, dipped your finger into the strained juice, fermented the juice in the back of an old beat up Chevy parked in the blazing sun of the Sonora desert for a year, poured the result into an ashtray, gave it a good shake, then bottled it. Yup. That’s what it tastes like.

Thanks eagle. Poured a dark cloudy broand color with okay lacing. Aroma was like a pack of cigarettes. Flavor was very ashy and meat?? As it warm a dry smoke as eagle said.

(Rating #2328)

750ml Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, light smoke, light bamburg wood, and malts. Poured very dark brown in color with a medium to large-sized, creamy, rocky, fluffy, light brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Good to very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, smoke, bamburg wood, light malts, and a little bitter coffee. Medium body. Slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Chocolate, smoke, and bamburg wood finish is lightly dry.

750 ml bottle from Marche Jovi, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. FE26/09.

App.: Very deep brown with a decent mocha head. Aroma: Lots of meaty smoke, porter-like malts of chocolate and coffee, grapes, a little dark dried fruit, slightly metallic, a bit of green hops. Palate: Medium body with fairly lively effervescence. Flav.: Still plenty of smoke and dark malts of chocolate and coffee, some dark dried fruit, a touch nutty, slightly ashen; dry with some bitterness and ashen malts + smoke to finish.

Definitely a smoked porter. Quite nice.

Bottle from SL. The pour was deep brown color, unfiltered and hazy, no mahoganey colors, tan colored head on top, some splotchy lacing. The aroma was ashy cigarrettes, some off-meaty notes too. The flavor is smoked ash, faint hints of meat, some astringency and acidic character. Mouthfeel was a little acidic, highly carbonated, but this was a fun brew. Dry smoke in the aftertaste.
