Geiserich (1573), Vienna, Austria Aug 22, 2008 Bottled: Sweet, fruity aroma. Light sourly aroma of berries and some roasted malt. Ruby red color and a beige head. Flavor is malty and sweet. Notes of fruits and blackcurrants. Dark chocolate and roasted malt in the end with burnt toast notes. Light dry finish with intensive roasted malt notes. Nice beer with a pleasant, burnt character.
alobar (725), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 1, 2009 Pours a cloudy brown color with reddish hues. Off-white head. Aroma of yeast, tartness..... Flavor is sweet with a tart/ sour finish. Enjoyable. bonfunck (56), Waasmunster, Belgium Dec 5, 2008 in the defoo @ ghent, in proper glassware, the glass is a bit annoying, easy to drink, good nose Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 28, 2008 An impressive glass, served with its own stand so it doesn’t fall over. Not very complex, just a simple, sweet strong brown ale. daknole (1268), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2008 Tasting at Brewtopia. Brown pour with a small beige head. Malty and yeasty aroma with a hint of tartness on the nose...almost a bit of funk there. Flavor is pretty sweet and fruity. Some yeasty notes and at the very end I get a cool tart taste. Interesting beer to say the least. bhensonb (3221), Woodland, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle (c&c) from Ledger’s Liquor in Berkeley, CA. Reddish copper color with a fizzy beige head that left rapidly. Slightly woody/vinous aroma. Medium plus body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly sour, slightly woody. Really astringent. It’s much like a Flanders red? Had I known it was so tasty I’ve have had it long ago. Something in the end like red wine and chocolate.
