| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 9/20 | Aug 26, 2009 8/25/09 from 12oz bottle, Export only recipe; the American, and not Carlsberg owned variety. Aroma is sweet bready malt forward with a substantial Saaz floral background that produces a smooth/spicy blend. Appearance is clear yellow with a moderate maintained white head. Flavor is very even between malt and hop flavors, with a lot of earthy flavors, both from noble bittering and a light grainy starchiness. There’s a light mineral note which is balanced by equally light sweetness that is more grain-sugary than caramel in character. Bittering is moderate. Mouthfeel is light/moderate bodied, which may not sound like much, but is noticeably fuller than other Asian lagers. Carbonation is also lower than in other Asian lagers, giving this a much smoother texture. Overall a fuller-flavored Asian brew that has flavor differences that set it apart from both German inspirations and local counterparts. BMan1113VR (2820), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
