Lightly malty nose, grainy, doughy. Body is med/light with a soft carbonation, lightly oily. Lightly nutty, faint roastiness. lightly grainy with some bready notes. Dry, lightly fruity finish. This pub has the equipment bit lacks the want to utilize it, shame. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA

Earthy malt throughout but with a slight rise in hops near the end of the swallow. OK, but boring. NachlamSie (1641), Tennessee, USA

The nose is certainly sweet, but not overly sugary like some other brown ales can be. It’s amply nutty and lightly toasty. The flavor is doughy with hints of almonds. I’d say this is a very accessible session ale for someone just being introduced into craft beer. It really reminds me of Newcastle, just without all the metallic notes. tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Nice dark brown, good sized bubbly white head. Pleasant malty aroma, some nutty notes. Nice mild taste - very nutty with some malt sweetness. The sweetness really kicks in near the end - the start is rather bland. Watery mouthfeel. A decent session type ale. jetboy (32), USA

Decent head with some lace. I expected more body but overall a good beer. I will drink more but can’t wait to try the porter sometime soon.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2007 Appearance: Cloudy, dark brown body with a thin, fizzy off-white head.
Smell: An extremely lacking aroma, with only the very faintest bit of chocolate malt.
Taste: Very light malt sweetness that displays a subtle nuttiness with a faint hop bitterness on the finish. That’s all there is to this one.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body, with a light carbonation. It really owns its wateriness!
Drinkability: As with the Rockets Red Ale, I see what they’re going for here; a light, refreshing beer that’s more of a caricature of the style. shrubber85 (2911), Wallhalben, Germany
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2007 Draft (Columbia). NIce mocha/cola malt aroma. Dark brown with a moderate tan head. Creamy coffee malt flavor with nice body - closer to a porter than the typical brown ale. Very nice and drinkable.
