CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 14, 2009 Tap at the High Point brewpub on 2/3/08: Barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin coating of wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty dark caramel malts and some nutty character and roastiness. Body starts with average fullness and a mild caramel and milk chocolate sweetness throughout with a touch of earthy bitterness toward a semi-dry finish. A decent oatmeal stout. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 27, 2009 An almost black pour with tan head and lace. Coffee dominates the nose. Roasted coffee beans followed by a medium hard bitter finish then a cloying sweet after taste. Medium bodied. Good bitter clings for a while. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 9, 2009 Dark brown colour. Powdery cocoa aroma. Decent toasty, nutty character. A bit thin, more porter-like. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2009 NC on tap-pours a tan ring for a head and black color. Aroma is faint dark malt-licorice. Taste is dark malt/oat-licorice/anise/chocolate/dusty/roasty, secondary earthy hops bite. OK effervescence. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Feb 6, 2009 Draught @ Columbia location. Dark brown, fun splotchy off-white head. MMM cocoa aroma is very clean with nice asphalt notes. Tastes tarter than expected but segues into a licorice sweetness. Husky-sweet and very nice. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Feb 24, 2008 Date: 02/03/2008

ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Feb 6, 2008 Appearance: Black body with ruby hints at its edges and topped by a small, light beige head.
Smell: Straightforward aroma of baker’s chocolate, licorice, and a touch of oats.
Taste: Light baker’s chocolate flavor with some roasted malts. Subtle sweetness. Hint of licorice. A little roasty bitterness kicks in and holds till the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Relatively creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Decent a humble, mild-mannered oatmeal stout. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Dec 30, 2007 On tap at Liberty. The pour is black and virtually opaque, with a tan head and light ring retention that diminishes to a small cap. The nose is nicely done, of sweet chocolates and roasted grains. Good chocolates upfront, that transfers into coffee mid-pull. The carbonation is a little high, detracting from an otherwise creamy palate. I pick up some dark fruit in the finish. This is definitely the best brew I’ve had thus far in the pub’s sampling.
