| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Tap at the High Point brewpub on 2/3/08: Barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin coating of wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty dark caramel malts and some nutty character and roastiness. Body starts with average fullness and a mild caramel and milk chocolate sweetness throughout with a touch of earthy bitterness toward a semi-dry finish. A decent oatmeal stout. Poured black with a creamy tan head that lingered and laced pretty well. Chocolate and coffee on the aroma. Flavor is much the same Chocolate, coffee, a bit of brown sugar and somewhat dry on the finish. Palate was about what I expect from a stout.. Full bodied.. Definitely the best of the 3 brews that I got to sample with dinner.
