MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Friday Session: Nearly opaque with a small head and oily legs, The aroma has notes of plum, fig, roasted, smoky and chocolate malts, some grassy hops and a hint of espresso. The taste has a good balance of malt and chocolate countered by some fruity notes and a mildly bitter coffee and herbal hop finish. The mouth feel is oily and creamy smooth, quite refreshing for the style. Another well done brew by the folks at Liberty Street. (strange that all 3 of us so far have the exact rating scores for this brew, perhaps we are on to something?)

On tap: The aroma consists of a nice blend of chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights with a nice khaki head. The flavor starts chocolate that lingers from start to finish and into the aftertaste. The finish has a well balanced roasted coffee presence with just a hint of fruity sweetness. Not overly complex, but very tasty and drinkable. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a fluffy dark tan head. Aroma is very rich and creamy with lots of roasted character, coffee, cocoa. Flavor is also quite roasty and creamy with notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of dark fruit. Roasty finish with a touch of bitter hops. Excellent job!
