2009 MiBGWF: Opaque with a long lasting creamy beige head and very good lacing. Once again the brewer knows how to produce beers that have great head retention, well done! The aroma has notes of prunes and plums, bittersweet chocolate, star anise and black pepper. A hint of smoke at times. The taste starts with a biting spicy and resiny hop character with a heavy sweet malt counterbalance. Coffee, Chocolate, cashews, earthy yeast and a bit of an alcohol bite are all welcomed upon the palate. The mouth feel is oily, aggressive, big and bold. Yummy overall and quite the first impression I received from this brewery, I must attempt to visit this place because you can color me impressed with high standards and brewers skills. The best beer of the fest, so much so I had 4 samples while chatting with the brewer and the staff.
