thewolf (3979), Kolding, Denmark Jun 19, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Bjergtrolden, Roskilde.
Pours deep mahogany red with a medium, creamy, light-beige head. Aroma has yeast, chocolate, cardemum, toffee and light raisin. Light mouthfeel, some creaminess. Flavour is limited, some chocolate, caramel sweetness. Rather bland, but surely, it’s quite drinkable.
Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 17, 2008 A clear dark brown ale with diffuse floaties and a thin moka head. Aroma is musty and sweet, caramel, lightly oxidized, and vinous. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with aniseed, light orange peels, a bit short. Medium bodied. Overall, a nice bruin. Doggythedog (1020), Split, Croatia Jul 19, 2008 Bottle bb Mar 2008, courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!) Lovely red-brown body with a medium sized off-white head. Pleasant malty and spicy nose, just a little dusty and sourish. Very, very light malty taste, slightly sweetish. Caramel and some weak weak spice and. Ok nuff, not offensive but needs more taste. heavy (503), Split, Croatia Jul 14, 2008 #400... 0.33 l bottle from belgianshop.com, BB Mar 2008. Poured darker copper body with medium-smaller beige head. It really had very nice, rich malty aroma of caramel, chocolate, cherries, other berries, roasted sugar...very, very promising. However, flavor was much below it, quite thin like most dubbels, although still nice, sweet caramel and dominated with some cherries. Simple, but works well. Nice, long sweetish finish follows the flavor. Dubbels don’t impress me, but this one is really nice. Quinten (711), zaandam, Netherlands May 27, 2008 Dark colour, thin lasting head, hinds of coffee, aniseed, paradiseseed, caramel, burnt candy, Nice one but needs much ingredients to get one.
