Pours a dark brownish purple color with a small white head. Aroma of raspberries, green apple and fresh bread. Nice balanced flavor that is mildly sweet and enjoyable sour. Decent fruit beer.

Bottle. Pours a burgundy beer. The aroma is high on fruits and berries with notes of tart. The flavor follows the nose closely. The palate is a little tart. Overall a fruity and good beer.

Dark brownish ruby color with a slightly pink medium sized head that settles slowly. A nice lid of foam remains on top of the liquid. The smell is distinct, yet slightly more muted than the brewery’s comparable beers (Goudenband and Kriekenbier). Here’s the signature sweetish smell of the Goudenband combined with lovely aromas of raspberries. Notes of caramel, grass, Belgian-style yeast and earth reside behind the prominent smell of genuine raspberries. Some candy-like aromas, both from the yeast and the fruits I guess. A hint of vinegar and red wine wraps everything up. The taste is very sweet at first, but then gets a little more tart in the middle. Lots of raspberries and caramel in the mouth, with pleasant notes of nuts, grass, fudge and earthy Belgian yeast. The taste is very candy-like in the mouth. Then the fruity tartness kicks in with notes of red-wine and a hint of vinegar. Also, I think I get a faint funky character somewhere beneath the fruitiness. The finish is mildly sweet and tart with notes of minerals and raspberry fruit pits. The taste is very reminiscent of fruit juice, but with enough edgy character to make it very interesting. It’s very refreshing despite the sweetness. Medium body with a rather gentle level of carbonation. The texture is semi-sticky at first, but a somewhat dry finish prevents the beer from getting cloying. I really like some of Liefmans offerings, and although Frambozenbier doesn’t reach the fantastic levels of Goudenband, it’s still a really good beer. It’s very well balanced with an almost perfect mix of sweetness and tartness. It’s not overly complex due to the prominent raspberry character, which dominate the beer from start to finish. 7/3/8/4/15 2007 vintage. Medium to dark brown with an orange tint. Looks nothing like raspberry! Head quickly goes to lace. Huge, jammy, very fruity raspberry aroma. Under that, a bit of chocolate. Sweet and sour flavor, lots of raspberry, with a nice sour touch to balance. Underlying caramel. Very nicely balanced indeed—sweet and jam-like but not cloying a bit. Slightly spicy as well. Nice. Sweeter and milder than the lambic framboises, more of a full-on dessert beer, but lovely.

375ml bottle 2006 cork. Pours a weird raspberry tea color, glowing but dark, small fine frothy head. Aroma is raspberry and tootsie-rolls, actually smells exactly like a grape tootsie-pop. Flavor is sweet raspberry juice with medium/light sourness, light vinegar, some tootsie-roll, very sweet, quite different from the kriek. Quick finish. Medium bodied, some hard-candy feel, sparse corse sharp carbonation. Raspberry hard-candy. Somewhat thin.

375 mL bottle. (bb Feb 20, 2016.) Wrapped in paper, no label. Clear, transparent red with a mild, sweet-sour raspberry aroma. Natural, sour raspberry flavour. Of course. Not bad. Kinda wish I had another.
