Dec 18, 2006 Bottle from 2005. Expiration date June 2015. Dark caramel/ garnet color with no head but somewhat decent carbonation. Burnt brown sugar, plums, leather, cherries, grapes and some vinegar in the aroma. Warming cherry notes along with some more dark fruits and a bit of vinegar. Very dry finish. No acidity.

Dec 14, 2006 Bottled-Tulip Glass. Pours a dark brown with bubbly (not foamy) head, which lingers after thinning considerably. Aroma is faint for this particular bottle. Otherwise, Goudenband would smell of acidic malts, raisins and chicory. Tastes sweet and sour, citrus acidity, caramel, mildly bitter. Lovely mouth feel. Great beer.

Dec 12, 2006 ahh yes what a beer today im going to rate the 1988 vintage i had a few months ago. dark brown slightly funky nose, little plums and sour fruits. tastes just like a good port, so mellow as compared to some of the newer vintages, wonderful brew

Dec 9, 2006 Bottle wrapped in paper. Dark brown color with a head that disappears. Aroma immediate hit of sour fruitiness, cherries, unripe plums, sloes, slightly vinous, with an underlying maltiness. Flavor is a complex sour fruit flavour, again, cherries, plums, sloes, plus crab apples and a sour wine element. Then there is the underlying maltiness that gives the finish a fine, sour taste.

Nov 26, 2006 Sour lactic aroma with hints of luscious cherries. deep reddish-purplish brown with trace head. Lactic sour oak barrell, raw brown sugar crystals. sour bitter finish, delicate sweetness. becomes tart like a red wine as you drink it.
