EtownEraser (63), New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2004 Sparingly carbonated, with a murky brown appearane. The aroma was banana like and does not match the sour citrus taste. I oringinally opened this before dinner and once it was mixed with the food (burgers), the taste was somewhat subdued. It was my first Sour Ale.
sebletitje (713), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 8, 2009 courtesy of Retorp, ’04 bottle.
Pours copper with beige head.
Taste is malty with light hops and some very good addition of fruits, dark cherries. God dose of yeast. Amazing balance with the sour and tartness being excellent, almost velvety.
wetherel (1217), Encinitas, California, USA Jan 8, 2009 $7.99 bottle from Greens Buford Hwy. 3 flemish browns in a row, and this is the best of them. Lots of maltiness, sweet, but seems drier than the other two. Dark brown amber color. Some buttery oaky barrel in the aroma. Apple cider is lower (which is good) than the other two. Nicely drinkable and refreshing. Chunks of yeast floating around. 8,3,8,3, 17: 3.9 gunhaver (700), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 8, 2009 2004 bottle, courtesy Retorp. Pours a tea color, with a fizzy white head and lacing. Aroma is of caramel, some oxidation, not much but enough, some molasses, some must. Aroma is dry molasses and musk, slight dry cider. Crisp, smooth and drinkable, easy to drink despite the oxidation. MennoO (2), Haarlem, Netherlands does not count Jan 7, 2009 Bottle, 2005, brown-red color, tastes far better than it looks. Very nice sour aroma. I liked the flavor, although it didn’t stay as long as i hoped. hirigalzkar (154), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 6, 2009 Bottle. Really ugly grey-red color. Smells a lot of fruit with some smoke. Sour. Tastes like a bad sparkling red wine with some smoke from regular cigarettes.Overall this beer is a little too thin for all the strange flavors. Big dissapointment.
