Pours a beautiful clear red with a small pink head. Sour, shockingly dry cherry aroma attacked my nostrils as my tastebuds receded back into my jaw trying to avoid the inevitable. The flavour is so tart and acidic, probably more than anything else I’ve tried, the cherry somehow is well balanced in there. The finish is, as you would expect, dry as you could imagine and very tart. Fantastic. maeib (4760), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

The regular Liefmans Kriek is good but put up against this beauty it just seems like fizzy pop. This is a hazy dark reddy brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is very sour. Great acidity and fruity cherries. The taste is also very sour and mouth puckering. Very fruity with a tiny touch of marzipan. Very tasty and actually a really good palate cleanser. jbrus (4893), Delft, Netherlands

The sour cherry, the good malt (more so than in the bottle version), just the harmony of the fruit and sourness and alcohol and flavour. Had to finish this to get the Struise Christmas beer on. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Red body with brown shine, white head; Very, very pleasant deep nose (the kind of beer you can just keep your nose in forever): fresh to overripe cherry, almond from the cherry pit, but also a little wood and a very little vinegar; Very, very sour body (citrus like sour, like chewing a citrus fruit) that could be a bit more complex; Into very long sour finish with cherry pit aroma together with a little vinegar like warmth. Great beer.
