Bottle, Brussels, Nov 2004. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium brown. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread, nuts, caramel), with notes of sherry, wood, cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A nifty little sour ale (and a cool sort of old-style bottle as well), but not quite extraordinary.

A subtle salty colony resides amongst the very drinkable sourness...Demure green apples reveal brown sugar when crushed...A grapey vinegar ghost rides the fine and fizzy bubbling into the well-blended sweetness and sourness...A table Flemish Sour ale to enliven an uneventful lunch...

Deep roasted caramel appearance with reddish hints. Light off-white ring fades quickly. Very woody, branches-like aroma with interesting fruity tones like currant and bilberry. Delicate lactic hints fail to carry on the tongue which has to deal with a sour and dry black cherry coke flavor. Very light and drinkable despite a salty finish, but nowhere near as enjoyable as the vast majority of oud bruins. Watery palate is spritzy and gives weight to the soda comparison.

Bottled. Very dark ’brown’-ish. Black cherry nose, along with a lactic(or is it sour?), and sweet feeling. Woody, hard maltiness and lactic flavour. The finish is sour. This is a style I need to get to know better.

Bottled at Microbar, Battersea. Big sour aroma, with some sweet fruits. A bit dissapointing really, but I am never a great fan of sour beer. Definite woodiness/mustiness. Slightly tart.

Balsamic vinegar a-go-go in the nose. Dark brown color and a frothy, lacy head. Lactic for sure, but also some toasted malt. A great combo and a great balance. Wonderfully interesting brew.

I love it: Wonderful balsamico nose on this nice brown brew with a small head, leaving brussels - what else - laces on the glass. Woody, pine taste, sour and astringent finish.
