Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 17, 2009 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and carame, as well as lighter notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry strawy finish. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Aug 11, 2009 Bottle. According to the label this is a US attempt at a ESB. Pours with a medium sized bone colored head over a hazed amber (no better word for it), hued body. Aroma is malt forward with pine needles, light fruit/banana esters, toffee, ad vanilla. Taste is copper, vanilla and toffee, a bitter metallic note, raisins, light hops, and autumn leaves. Very good, but not a hop based experimentery(sp? at this time of the evening) amber ale. Light bubbles, but thin. Enjoyit (1695), Vadum, Denmark Jul 23, 2009 Unclear amber of color with a weak orange head. An aroma of malt, hops, grapefruit and liqurice. A flavor of mlat, hops and grapefruit. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 29, 2009 On tap at The Local in SD. Pours an amber color with a light beige head. The aroma is massively buttery with outrageous amounts of diacetyl. Has a tart sourness from the disastrous brewing mess. This is indeed shite. I like the Local because the folks there are really nice, so it’s disappointing to see them serving a crap beer like this. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jun 18, 2009 Taster at the brewery in Poway. Pours a slightly hazy amber body with a thin, off-white head that leaves a light lacing. Aroma is bready with some toasted toffees, nuts, melons, and citrus. Flavor is quite tasty. Lots of distinct flavors including a nice amount of bitterness. Toasted breads, caramels, assortment of fruits, and a bigger than anticipated hop bite. Moderate lingering aftertaste after a dry finish. Full bodied and smooth. Overall, definitely my favorite sampling of the day. Lots of flavor and a very enjoyable bitterness. Good stuff. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA May 5, 2009 This beer was obviously amber in color, transparent, hardly a head to speak of. The smell is faint malt and cereal but is almost non-existent. The flavor is very malty, not any distinct hop flavors but there is a bitterness to the beer. The label says this is an ESB (albeit American style) and a so I don’t see why it has to be 7.5%. To its credit, the alcohol is not noticeable.
