Commercial Description:
As you might expect from a Lightning Beer, we made an American Lager that is unlike others. It is big, has a slight corn taste associated with the style, hefty hopping and a true laggered overall taste. For hops, we used American varieties and a selected strain of American Lager yeast for fermentation. This is a big beer: around 8.3% A.B.V., with a slight aroma of hops, a moderate amount of bittering hops to balance the maltiness of the beer, and a clean fermentation from the yeast and temperatures we use through the process.

This is actually a pre-prohibition American style beer, according to the brewer/owner. Yellow, small head. Sweet amber malt aroma and light bread. I like it’s rich body, strength and sweetness. Nicely balanced and I went back twice for more samples...my favorite of the lot and one I’d happily order a pint of when available.

On draft at O’Brien’s. Appearance is a clear light orange hue, thin layer of dissipating bubbles, minimal lacing. Smell is sweet bread malts, corn, a touch of darker fruits, grassy hops. Taste is sweet grainy malt with a underlying dark fruit presence, slight bitter grassy hops and lager yeast, finishes dry w/slight alcohol warming. Palate is full-bodied, creamy thick and chewy texture, moderate carbonation. Overall, a moderate, thickly sweet lager that almost feels Belgian-ish, even at 8%abv there is good balance and flavor going on here, very unique style of beer, I was pleasantly surprised!

22oz bottle from SBD. Pours slightly hazy, straw yellow with some floaters. Moderate white head, specks of lace. Smells grainy malty and sweet, slightly earthy hoppy. Tastes very sweet grainy, malty with a dose of booze. Very tasty. Medium body, ok carbonation.

This pre-pro lager is golden in colour. It has lemon hop on the nose with some graininess and caramel. It’s fairly grainy but with smooth, bright flavours and hints of malt that come in late. Well-balanced.

Draft @ Liars Club. Clear amber with a 1" head. Lagar sweet aroma with grains and corn. Medium body. Flavor is heavy, sweet pale lager, straight forward and almost clean. Reminds me of a Euro strong lager. Enjoyed this one.

Draught at Stone World Bistro. Clear, deep golden. Roasted corn in the nose. Is well-structured with a good balance of sweet and dry with a touch of alcohol in the finish. Quite unique actually.
