thebeertourist (1879), Oslo, Norway Sep 20, 2008 From bottle at In de Wildeman. Dark brown with creamy beige head. Fruity aroma. Flavours are more malty with balanced bitterness. Rather soft. A quite agreeable dubbel that does not stand out. ogivlado (2381), Zagreb, Croatia Aug 30, 2008 Bottled(300ml). -Reddish/brown coloured, medium sized cappuccino head, sweet cardboard nose. Sweet malty, light chocolate and caramel taste with notes of dried fruits and herbs. Hint of nuts in the light metallic finish. No trace of 6.5% at all. FatPhil (2351), Espoo, Finland Mar 8, 2008 300ml bottle (Bierkoning, Amsterdam)
Clear red, thin head. Sweet rye-bready aroma - almost towards mämmi. Some tea and saccharine too, but also woody and a bit nutty. Alas too drying. But a good punchy aroma, that was for sure. MiP (6018), Flensburg, Germany Oct 12, 2007 Slightly roasted aroma. Very dark brown colour, seemingly clear. Small creamy tan head. The flavour is malty and slightly roasted. A bit thin. Quite subtle, but the flavour improves as the beer warms. Rastacouere (5343), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 21, 2007 Draught, ‘t Arendsnest. Clear dark copper hue mounted by a lacy, vigorous off-white head. Very grainy, but a bit superficial in its worty sugariness. Herbal and cerealic as well, but here again, simplistic. Red licorice notes could be better integrated by transitory secondary flaours. Sweet and so-so as it is. Metallic finish. Feels quite industrial and rough-edged.
