Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

This currant colored beer has a nice, purple head and an intense black currant aroma, the kind you only find in fresh and sun ripe berries that you pick directly from the bush. The flavour is wonderful and I feel like I’m standing in the sun, picking and eating berries. Lindeman rules when it comes to fruit lambics!!

Good sized pink head on a deep purple body. Taste is lovely notes of blackcurrant, sweet but not overly so, aroma is soft, blackcurrant and a bit musty.

Pours like grape soda with a smallish purple head. Aroma is very similar to a red wine mixed with currant. Flavor is sweet, tart and very fruity. I don’t think I could drink more than one glass in a session, but that one glass is absolutely delicious.

Bottle from Odd Bins. I love this stuff, it’s like alcoholic Ribena. Deep purple with a light mauve head. That typical lambic aroma with notes of black currant; reminds me of red wine. Sweet and sour at the same time. Syrupy palate gives it a full mouth feel. Full of berry goodness. If you like black currant you’ll enjoy this.

Pours a dark pinkish/light red. Thin pink head. Very sweet aroma. Tastes sharp, biting, sour, sweet, and obviously prominant currant. The palate is full and crisp. The finish is crisp as well. Tastes and smells like all Lindeman’s sweet and exactly like the fruit they make it with.

Bottled - Swan and Rushes Leicester. A rich, dark red coloured beer with a short-livde purply white coloured head. The aroma is sweet and packed with blackcurrants. The smell is very full and the skins of the fruit are to the fore. Seems artificial though. The taste is like alcoholic vimto. It’s very fruity with areal blackcurrant kick. Poppy and sweet. The fruit is again a tad artificial and over the top. Still drinkable.

I’m a sucker for the Lambics, and this is no exception. Not as good as the others I’ve had, but stll pretty darn good. Smells lovely, very fruity. Taste is tart, but easily drinkable. One of the few my girlfriend enjoys. :-)
