Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Deep red with a pink head a tart musty aroma of black currants. Flavor carries through with enough acidity to balance. Nice earthy feel to it. Not too sweet-some oak qualities appear at the end. Tingly, acidic finish.

Overly sweetened, cloying so, although the extremely lively carbonation helps cut that defect. Sweet/tart/sour in flavor but all too weird for me. Not at all refreshing.

(ABV 3.5%) Dark red and somehow coppery color, little pink head. Strong blackcurrant aroma. Blackcurrant also strong in flavor, lasts with sourness in aftertaste. Mild carbonation.

Deep reddish-purple color, with a soft pinkish-blue head, with a huge intense black currant nose, with a wet woody aroma follows through on a medium-bodied sweet black currant palate, with a huge fruity black currant flavor, with a sweet tart and acidic touch in the finish.

(Bottle 37,5cl) Poured a very deep purple with a thin creamy bright pink head that leaves surprisingly nice lacing. The nose is very fruity with lots of blackcurrant, some musty red wine, apples and a bit of woodiness presumably from the oak aging. The mouthfeel is very syrupy with light carbonation. Much like the other Lindemans lambics, the fruity sweetness is very powerful and present in the flavor. I really like sweets and blackcurrants so it really appeals to me but I can see why others might not be too fond of it. Definitely best for desert, I imagine it would go nicely with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Extremely refreshing.
