Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Strong candy-like black currant aroma has some occasional minty notes. Opaque reddish-purple body with decent cover of pink-white head that laces nicely. Very sweet candy-like fruitiness that is enjoyable but displays very little beer or lambic character. Very slight tartness in the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle (City Market Burlington, Nov. 2004) sampled with beerbuzzmontreal, ClarkVV, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier, Rastacouere and Simon.

Pours a dark red color with a thin pink head. Sweet but somewhat unpleasant aroma of black currants. Unpleasant flavor of black currants, it’s much to sweet.

Clear pinky blood color. Limited head. Strong grapey cassis aroma. Extreme level of sweetness, nothing else, no alcohol trace whatsoever. So sweet it burns, overwhelming. The slightest hint at branches keep it from being a disaster, very cloying nature, teeth sticking. Smooth bodied, soft carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel. I don’t know.. I don’t enjoy it, but for a fruit syrupy beer, it is well made indeed…

Available in the bottle served with the appropriate glassware at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse in Pittsburgh, PA. Very nice appearance. An interesting musty aroma. Reminds me of the inside smells of the Noah’s Ark in Kennywood Park. Very easy to drink. I would consider this equal in stature to the raspberry. Equal, but different, a very good beer.

Deep purple body with a pink head, lots of lacing down the glass. Aroma is of currants with some light woody notes. Mildly sweet, currants and a light vinegar notes. Some light tartness balancing out the fruity sweetness. Overall a bit too sweet, but that was expected from this one.

Pours a dark purple with a tall pink head. Very rich currant aroma, sweet up front with a slight sourness in the finish. Very thick texture coating the palate very well. This makes a very nice after-dinner brew that would pair very nicely with anything sweet and rich.

Courtesy of Pailhead. Pours dark ruby/purple, with light purple foam. Aroma is dirty, musty, stale water smell. Flavor has alot of vinegar and not much fruit at all. Aroma kills the score for sure.
