Berries dominate the aroma, but more of an earthy overtone than a fruity one. Good blackberry taste backed up by quite a bit of malted and raw barley. I thought it was pretty tasty, but probably a hit or miss with most people. jbrus (4864), Delft, Netherlands
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Strong blackberry aroma. Very dark red color, pink head, very nice lace. Blackberry syrup and sweet start. After swalling some vinegar which was the only positive authentic about it, medium body. After this one I decided to never buy a Cassis again. I hate the blackberry flavor. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA

I’m not sure how black currants are supposed to taste but the aroma is wonderful. full and strong. A cross between cherries and grapes. Flavor is a terrific mix of sweet and tart. Stong carbonation, and a dry finish. Very refreshing. Delicious. hopnpop (68), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

Great purple colour with a thin white head. The aroma is solid black currants, but fresh. The flavour is all fruit and sweet, but with a refreshing tartness. The fairly high carbonation also helps to offset the sweetness. Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA

Some of the most complex lacing I have seen. Not nearly as turbulent as other Lindeman’s brands. Tart! Wow! Really tart! Quite refreshing, but I feel it could use a bit more sweet or sour to balance the tartness. Very dry finish. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 11, 2004 While hardly my favorite from this brand, it is a fine beer. I don’t know if I ever had a black current on its own but this tasted a little like prunes. As I only like prunes ok it was the last beer I tried by these guys that I could get a hold of. While I am not knocked out it was a very good beer much better then your average brew. When ranked against most beer it is better but against their other product it is not quite as good. Still if you like fruit beer this is another good one. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2004 This bottled capped and corked brew poured a medium sized head of slightly purple colored mostly diminishing bubbles of fine to medium size. The body was transparent carbonated and brown in color. It had a mild sour grape aroma and a smooth slightly tingly sour initial mouth feel that mellowed in the finish. It had sour grape.
