reakt (810), Greater London, England Apr 6, 2008 This used to be a regular on the roster until I got into lambic properly, sadly I made no notes, so here I go again...Bottle from Quaffs. Pours an opaque blood red with a rocky pink foam, you can really smell the sweetness as it comes out of the bottle. The nose is intensely sweet with raspberry syrup and a trace amount of lambic funk. In it’s defense it does have some slight raspberry pippyness but it’s just not enough to save it. Taste is much the same, kinda like artificially sweetened raspberry pop but more syrupy. It’s not awful but the fact it’s taken me about an hour to drink doesn’t say much for it.
Palidor19 (1276), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 gives a real initial tartness of the first sip, after the shock taste of Raspberry sherbet and fizzy taste. skoll (35), Traverse City, Michigan, USA Aug 26, 2008 Large, foamy, frothy, pink head is slow to diminish. Deep ruby body is murky from raspberry particles. Grain malt (light); tons of raspberries. Hard to really detect other aromas, but the aroma is both more sweet and more sour than pure raspberry juice. Heavily sweet, lightly sour flavor becomes a heavily sweet, moderately sour finish. zvikar (12), , Israel Aug 26, 2008 Red to purple deep color, great fragance, real nice raspberry winey flavour, better than his kriek brother. WesKBob (147), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a dark red with a moderate pink head. Lots of raspberry aroma. Flavor is complex--in the first taste, all you get is the raspberry sweetness. But then you get some other notes, particularly a vinegary tartness and some earthy mustiness. Very smooth drinking with a light, spritzy mouthfeel. A little sweeter than many lambics, but still very solid. Imaena (240), Portland, Maine, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle and Draught. Fruit up front in the nose and body. The classic commercial fruit lambic. Fruit more than lambic. Great beer to get the girlfreind or non beer loving friend. Looks nice in a champagne flute at fancy parties.
