Some cherry in there and awesome sourness. Not spectacular but definitely decent. Strong sour aroma as the beer was being poured into the glass. Aroma was sweet honey and lemon juice. These aromas carry through into the flavour but without the sweetness and also a slight orange peel character. Mouthfeel was sour with a slight soapy finish and again very dry. I didn’t get the barnyard character others have described, this can increase as the bottles get older so perhaps I had a younger bottle (no date that I could see)The best Lindemans beer I have had and would def drink it again. Did not expect much from a Lindemans, but this one surpassed my expectations. Lemons, cheese, and funk. Nice notes of earthiness, straw, and apples. Dry and sweet, but not sticky. Fairly impressive, especially considering where it comes from. Tasty. BOLTZ7555 (1113), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2009 This one is definitely high on the sour scale...which I like. Extremely funky, tart, lemony blue cheese aroma rises above a well carbonated 24 karat pour. Solid white head for the style and significant lacing. Very earthy and mouth puckering flavor with hints of Granny Smith apples, lemon zest, and orange peel. Medium mouthfeel. A good example of the style but not for the faint of heart. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René is a highly sparkling golden beer with a thick, fluffy, slightly yellowed white head that has outstanding retention and leaves excellent lacing on the glass. The aroma is quite powerful and carries notes of funk, cheese, horse blanket, cave and mud. It is light bodied, fluffy and bubbly on the tongue. The finish is crisp and dry. It is very sour, musty and funky, with no noticeable sweetness. There are notes of champagne, bleu cheese and hay. It’s a very bretty affair. The finish is full of green apples. It is tart through and through. What a unique beer!
