| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle dated 1994. Pours darker than expected, a dark amber color, clear, with a dense, snow white head that lingers long. Aroma is hugely complex, with lots of musty character, some sourness, and very funky, with horse blanket and all you would expect from a true lambic. The flavor is equally complex, acetic and musty but with a balancing sweetness. Aftertaste is equally complex, leaving you wanting more. A great lambic for the true lambic fan. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Personal "New Years Night of 1000 Gueuzes" started off with an 2006 750mL cork and cap bottle. It pours a clear, light orange shade of golden color. Aroma is present with the signature Cuvée René rubber/packaging-tape-glue. Taste has some light acidic edges and light barnyard and sour taste. Leaves its signature taste in a long light aftertaste with a good dry finish. Carbonation is mild for a gueuze. 8/3/7/3/16.
Older vintages: have had the 1994 recently from Dickinsonbeer and have also had the 1996 before. These were always a bit more hazy/murky. Aroma becomes stronger on basement funk with the signature rubber and light barnyard. The rubber has really thickened and time has taken the edges off making it much smoother. Taste is citric free lemon, rubber and medium acidity. Again the it’s much more tamed. There is a thick maltiness (for gueuze) that has emerged as well. So nice when aged. Very mild and thick mouthfeel with just a few spikes; soft on the cheeks. 8/4/8/4/17 Silphium (2152), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2007 2003. Hazy light medium orange body, medium, clumping cream head. Lemony nose with sharp, biting tartness, abundant musty cobwebs and especially wood- wood shavings and sawdust. Sour body, lemony, with light sugars. Tart, thinning to dusty wood, earth, and cobwebs. Molded hay notes persist beneath the funk and oak. Bolder that most of this brewer’s offerings. Good complexity. beerlord (215), tonawanda, New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2007 bottle. pours a clear gold with a huge fluffy white head that doesn’t quit and leaves some great thick lacing. funky smell of lemon peel, cheesy funkiness, some champagne grape, a bit of straw. taste is the same, but the malts come out more, giving it a bit more of an earthy tone. great sour finish, with a dryness and a hint of bitter. stringent mouthfeel that i want to call sparkly, even though i don’t know what that word means in this context. medium body and high carbonation. i think i’m getting used to these funky beers. i really enjoyed this one. it was quite refreshing, and scratched the itch i’ve been having. i can’t wait to have some more.
