Pours clear golden, with a three finger beige head, good lacing. Aroma of biscuit, citrus, apple, grass and some light farmyard notes. Medium-thin body, very tart. Tastes of apple, lemon, green grape, a little bit of biscuit and grass, with more farmyard notes. A strong sour and medium dry finish.

Bottle. Crisp, dry smell. Clear deep golden color. Taste was, (whew!) sour. Slightly dry but sour. Maybe a slight citrus taste but sour. Did I mention it was sour.

12oz bottle. Pours a nice clear orange with a very small white head. Nose is tart and dry with some brett notes. Flavor is crisply sour, lemony, and that’s practically all there is to it. Pretty dry, as well. This is a pretty basic gueuze - not a lot of complexity here. Still, it’s one that I’ve always enjoyed, and a pretty accessible sour. Easy to find, too.

(bottle - corked & capped 12 oz) Hazy gold color with a thick and fizzy white head. Aroma is dry and tart with some very nice and funky notes as well. Flavor is very sour and tart at the beginning, followed up by some funky farmhouse and dry champagne notes. Very bubbly and with a surprisingly light aftertaste.

Pours a pale golden buttery color with a quickly dissapting white head. No lacing, just a nice white ring around the top of the beer. Smells really sour with a strong barnyard quality to it. Definitely a bit funky, Bret Funky. The barnyard quality seems to be the strongest quality coming through in the nose. Maybe a bit fruity/citrusy. Definitly sour coming through, a touch of citrus fruits seem to be accessible. There’s that wild side of the yeast coming through in the finish. Interesting and very tasty beer.

Bottle. Strangely enough, this one has an upside-down label. Pours hazy orangey-gold, with a 1-finger white head that quickly reduces to a very persistent skim. Lacing is in sheets, and patchy. Nose is nice and tart; mild barnyard, fresh, surprisingly sweet apple, mild spice, a bit of cheese, some rather vinous aromas as well. Think past-due Champagne. Palate is light and crisp, nice bready yeastiness and solid tartness. Finish is a bit watery. A good, decent gueuze, which I can get from the corner store. Can’t ask for much more than that. Well... you can... apparently they’re getting Cantillon in February, which means I will be buying less of this after February.
