This is a very fine beer. You should try it. And then NEVER buy it again. Let me explain. This gueuze pours a clear amber with a big creamy white head. Tart candy nose. The beer is only slightly dry with wheat emparting a tangy sharpness. Whatever. The point is, this is an extremely disappointing gueuze. I guess it’s supposed to be smoother and sweeter than normal, or something. If you must buy a Lindemans gueuze, stick with the Cuvee Rene. Otherwise, stick to Cantillon.

Brewer: Brouwerij Lindemans Style: A Lambic - Gueuze ABV: 4% Never been a big fan of Lambics. Of course all I’ve had the opportunity to try thus far have been the Lindeman’s fare. I did like the Framboise to a point but I’ll save that for another rating. This beer was not unlike a lot of homemade fruit wines I’ve tried. Very sweet and by that I mean "sugary" sweet (too sweet for my tastes) with a sourness that approached unpleasant levels toward the end of the bottle. Not impressed with this one.

Bottle: I’ll start with the fact that I am a bit of a ratings whore, and want to rate just about everything. Looking for yet another rating, in particualr in the Gueue style. While I understand going in that its not supposed to be as good of an example of a gueuze as possible (as with all lindemans brews). anyways ... on to the beer, it pours a normal beer look. Deep goldish browin with a hint of brown, little to no head. Aroma is strong, and not overly plesant. I’d say there is some serious vomit smell, and a little bit of urine ... starting out strong with the aromas, I know, but there are some slightly positive characteristics such as apple and yeast. Flavor is like a dry beer, or maybe even a dry chapagne. Very dry to say the least, some nice sour notes. Mouthfeel is quite abrupt and bite-ey.

Ah, within style, this was a bummer. Call it a Faro, and I’d have been better prepared. Sugar was definitely added to this one. But, unlike Lindeman’s approach to fruit beers, the sugar was unwelcomed in this Gueuze. Some tart and citrus barnyard type aromas, but even the sugar / sweetness came through there. The flavor was too sweet, some tart, some wheaty / hay type flavors. Citrus wasn’t tart or sour. Aftertaste wasn’t tart at all. Mouthfeel was light and thin with the usual carbonation of the gueuze. A refreshing and drinkable beer, but too close to soda, and out of line for the style. Poured a golden color with some reddish hues, decent head, significant lacing.

Bottle at Novotel Gent. Brown with a white head, mostly lasting, good lacings. Aroma moderate fruity. Flavor light sweet, moderate sour. Light body, watery, soft carbonated. Typical and fine.

Had the other night from bottle. It was good, interesting sweet/sour contrast, moderate acidity,, nice mouthfeel, yeasty, somewhat funky. I kinda thought of it as a starter Gueze.

poured a nice hazy amber orange with a nice frothy white to off white head that quickly dispersed with almost no lacing. had a semi-sweet straw/grass amora with a mild white grape scent. the flavor is nicely refreshing being mostly tart and sweet. on the palate it was light bodied with a fizzy carbonation that left a semi-dry feel, almost like a sweet champagne. again like the flavor, the feel on the palate was quite refreshing. over all it was quite good, but with a difficult as it was to find i rather just stick with the more common framboise or even the (easy for me to find) cassis lambics.
