Clean, funky sour apple aroma. Surprisingly sweet, apple juice flavor with some puckering brett in the finish. Who is this made for? Belgian sorority girls? This gueze does not please. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Tasted at BierMeisters meeting. Bretty aroma; horsebalnket, wet wool, nice smell. Light gold color. The taste is muted, sweetish, and some mild brett. The flavor seems extrremely muted in stark contrast to the aroma. Faro in disguise? Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Bottle in a gueuze tasting. Very syrupy/rich/sugary appearance that even made me think of a tawny or a cognac! Suffice it to say that I was not very enthusiastic. Beside, we had the Cuvée René as well which is a lot more gueuzy then this one. Aroma is damp earth, apple and hay. Taste is syrupy/sugary. The finish is faint without any sign of astringency.
I’ll get another bottle asap to see if there was something wrong with this one. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 22, 2006 Any first impressions?
-The russet-bronze lining is surely different than the great majority of gueuzes.
-Sweet peaches and apples topple any form of apparent funkiness.
-Horribly sweet and syrupy once tasted, evidently not what this gueuze lover is looking for.
-This is as simple as it gets for something that calls itself "gueuze".
What if you dig deeper?
-The aroma does have some mustiness.
-A few lemons are found battling the sugar.
-It isn’t infected or anything, don’t worry.
-A sad sweetened semblance of something not supposed to suck.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2006 Aroma is mostly sour apple, my bottle had a tiny himt of skun in the aroma, but not enough tohave a real impact. Pours an orange/ amber color with a small haed that dissapates quickly. Flavor is sour and fruity with a bit of woodieness and a smooth finish. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2006 1/20/06-355ml. bottle. Hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Earthy aroma of granny smith apples, hay and vinegar. Flavor was sweeter than expected, much more than the Cuvee Rene. Still has some apple tartness but the sweetness takes alot away from it.
A hint of honey and a bit of cork in the flavor also. qwak (25), Yokosuka, Japan
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 14, 2006 Very little aroma, deep tan color, little head.. apple/grape and fairly cidery, slightly sour, not the best gueuze I’ve had, but still a nice beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2006 Hard to believe that it took me this long to find a bottle of this. However, it wasn’t very high on my "must find" list. A 355mL bottle - corked and capped. Pours a hazed orange-amber with a small white head. It’s effervescence proves its demise and it vanishes rather quickly. Nose is sour fruit, light vinegar, wet wood, damp earth and a bit of a Sour Patch Kids type sweet-sour. Taste is more sweet than sour. Light vinegar notes, more of the Sour Patch Kids sweet-sour candyish notes, light wood, and a bit of raw sugar. Body is light and effervescent. Very bubbly like a champagne, but typical for the style. Finishes with a bit too much sweetness but retains that standard dryness. Only a mild tart fruit flavor remaining. Light wood and some faint candyish notes. Not bad, but more a "mass marketed" gueueze than a true one.
